DESCRIPTION: Structural and civil design of a new multi-story steel-framed 5/6 grade school on a spread footing foundation. Partially below grade lower level required an extensive retaining wall system. The entrance and main corridors are constructed of exposed Glulam timber beams with timber decking. The lateral system consists of a series of moment frames and masonry shear walls. The school also contains a gymnasium and a cafetorium with spans exceeding 80 feet. The site development portion of the project included new access drives, walks, utilities, athletic fields, and all related site construction.
