DESCRIPTION: Structural and civil design of a new two-story, steel-framed elementary school supported on a spread footing foundation. The structure consists of composite beam floors and light gauge steel truss roofs. The site construction was limited to approximately 22 acres. The civil engineering included the design of utilities including storm, water and septic systems and the development of a soil erosion control plan. Assisted in obtaining all required State of Connecticut DEP permits. Also responsible for traffic impact studies and STC permitting. The project is located in a potentially moderate to high sensitive area for prehistoric archaeological resources. Therefore, required a reconnaissance survey to determine if any valuable resources were located within the project area. Archaeological Studies taken in accordance with the Environmental Review Primer for Connecticut’s Archaeological Resources.
